Terms of engagement

These terms apply to legal services provided by Corvin & Hale LLP unless the engagement letter says otherwise. We begin work only after a conflict check has cleared and you have accepted a written estimate. Fees are hourly, fixed or capped, as agreed before the work starts; time is recorded in six-minute units and itemized on every invoice. Court fees, expert fees, translations and travel are passed through at cost. Invoices are payable within thirty days. If the scope of a fixed-fee matter grows, we stop and re-quote in writing before continuing. Either side may end the engagement at any time; we invoice the work done and hand over the file. We are insured for professional liability up to $5M. New York law governs the engagement and the state and federal courts sitting in Kings County have jurisdiction. Complaints about the provision of legal services may be addressed to the Attorney Grievance Committee for the Second Judicial Department, 335 Adams Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201.
